Liang Yi TCM – Physician Consultation & Herbal Medication

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is more than just a practice; it’s a dialogue between your lifestyle, your body, and the natural cycles. Liang Yi TCM Clinic offers thorough TCM physician consultations as well as customized herbal medication prescriptions based on your unique medical requirements. Our committed group of TCM physicians, some of whom are fluent in Mandarin and English, strives to make traditional therapy accessible to and beneficial for patients from diverse backgrounds. Our approach complies with Singapore’s current clinical safety and regulatory requirements while utilising the knowledge of centuries-old TCM.

Licensed TCM Physicians

Our clinic is based on a group of fully accredited Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physicians. Each physician is registered with Singapore’s TCM Practitioners Board, which is the Ministry of Health’s regulatory body. This guarantees that strict ethical and professional standards are followed in all consultations and therapies.

Many of our physicians speak English and Chinese to better serve our multicultural population, making consultations more accessible and comfortable for people from all backgrounds.

Every consultation includes a detailed review of your health story, including your unique constitution, lifestyle choices, and body’s signals. Physicians use this to develop therapies that feel right for you rather than just prescribing generic medicines.

What to Expect During a TCM Consultation

TCM consultations start with a comprehensive diagnostic session utilising Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Four Diagnostic Methods (四诊法):

1 Observation (望诊)

A crucial component of the diagnostic process is visual observation. The physician assesses your posture, physical characteristics, facial features, tongue shape and coating, and movements. These external indicators provide crucial details about your internal well-being and vitality.

2 Listening & Smelling (闻诊)

This method comprises listening to your breathing and speech and looking for any odd body odours. For instance, irregular breathing or a weak voice could be signs of digestive or lung issues.

3 Questioning (问诊)

Your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, diet, sleep patterns, emotional state, and other relevant information are all the subject of structured questions from the doctor. We’ll pose the crucial queries: How do you sleep? Is there any discomfort or pain? Your answers enable us to make the connections.

4 Pulse & Palpation (切诊)

One of TCM’s distinctive techniques, palpation, involves diagnosing pulses and, occasionally, performing delicate physical examinations of specific body parts. More than just a ritual, feeling your pulse gives you insight into the inner workings of your body by revealing energy flows and obstructions that are invisible to the human eye. Your wrist has multiple depths and locations where you can feel your pulse, each of which represents a different organ or bodily system.

Combining these four methods allows the TCM physician to examine not only the illness but also the constitution of the entire body, which is a crucial aspect of Chinese medicine that affects how your body responds to changes both inside and outside of you.

Tailored Herbal Medication

Based on your body type, symptoms, and imbalances, the physician will formulate a customised herbal prescription. There is no one-size-fits-all method used by TCM. Rather, it emphasises tailoring care to the patient, which is especially advantageous when dealing with lifestyle and chronic diseases.

Purified herbal granules that dissolve readily in warm water and herbal tablets or capsules that are convenient for people on the go might be part of your prescription.
